You Are Here

a child's finger pointing at a prism rainbow on a wall

When anxiety has you jittery, reading poetry can slow the mind and maybe offer perspective.

When depression feels heavy, poetry can be a gentle companion letting you know that you aren’t the only person to feel this way.

I offer this poem as a meditation, inviting you to pause, breathe, and find calm within, even if just for a moment.

You Are Here

Here.

This point, right now.

This is where you are.

Don’t worry about the minute that comes

after this one or before.

In this minute,

you

are

here.

You are not who you were.

You are not who you will be.

You are you in this now, and that is perfect.

Maybe this minute is heavy.

They sometimes are.

But you are here, which means

you have made it through

all the minutes

up to now.

You have been through hard

and come out the other side

more human.

The fact that you are here is proof.
